International Air Cadet Exchange (Singapore) 2010
Homestay Weekend Programme
5 - 6 June

As part of the International Air Cadet Exchange (Singapore) itinery, there is a Homestay Weekend Programme scheduled for our foreign friends. We are looking for approximately 10 to 15 cadet officers, to host our guests at your respective homes from 5th to 6th of June 2010, inclusive of 3 to 5 female cadet officers for our female guests.

These cadet officers will be bringing our guests around, such as showing our guests what the Singapore nightlife is all about, and giving them insights to the Singapore culture. Most importantly, the foreign cadets must be able to experience the Singaporean family life and atmosphere in your homes. That, I would say would be the most valuable and unique experience they can take home with them, after spending a weekend with a Singaporean family, away from the familiarity and comfort of their own families and culture.

By default, if you sign up, you will be assigned 2 guests. If you can only host 1 cadet, please let us know. If you can host more than 2 cadets in your homes, we will be more than happy to make the arrangement. The age of our foreign cadets will range from 17 to 20 years old, you are requested to make your own plans for them during that weekend. It is a very flexible programme, in that you and your guests can decide what to do, without interference from HQ NCC. However, please refrain from clubbing and excessive drinking. You will be given a sum of money to cover the meals and expenses of our guests, which would be approximately $6 per meal. Please arrive at HQ NCC by 11am on 5th of June to pick up your guests.

Cadet officers signing up for the homestay programme are not obliged to participate in the main programme. If for example, you are unavailable for the duration of the 19-day programme due to school commitments, but you are available for that weekend to host our guests in your homes, please feel free to sign up as well.

Please email me directly at lesterlee_rulez@hotmail.com.
I look forward to your signups.

International Air Cadet Exchange (Singapore)

Greetings Air Cadet Officers!

It is that special time of the year again, when our foreign friends from all over the world are coming to Singapore for 2 weeks of friendship-building, learning and most importantly, FUN, through the International Air Cadet Exchange Programme. There will be an extensive itinery scheduled for our visitors, with a variety of activities such as Airbase visits, joyrides, IMT, trainfire, adventure training, city tours, national education tours, homestay and also visits to many major tourist attractions in Singapore. NCC (Air) Cadet Officers will get to enjoy this rare opportunity to be hosts and ambassadors, by bringing our guests around and assisting in the running of the low-regimentation 19-day programme. We are expecting Air Cadets from Canada, USA, UK, Hong Kong, Australia, and also NCC Cadets from India.

The programme will be held from the 30th of May till the 13th of June, in HQ NCC. However, most of the itinery will be held outside HQ NCC. Just like any other programme, we need a team of facilitators to run the activities and bring our guests around. I would need approximately 5 to 6 cadet officers a day for weekdays, and 6 to 7 cadet officers a day for weekends. Please submit your available dates to our Manpower OIC, C/LTA Riley when she asks for manpower. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated, as coordinating manpower is no easy task.

We are looking for committee members to be part of the IACE Core Team. Members MUST be able to commit to 75% of the duration of the IACE Singapore programme, and that means 14 to 15 days, simply because the primary responsibilities for the smooth running of the programme will rest on the shoulders of this committee, consisting of 5 Cadet Officers.

The IACE Core Team members are as follows:
OIC: C/LTA Lester Lee
2IC: C/OFFR David Ong
Treasurer: VACANT
Logistics: VACANT
Manpower: VACANT

If you require any excuse letter from school, please do not hesitate to let us know. However, do bear in mind, studies should still be your priority at all times, so please strike a balance.

There will be a committee meeting on Saturday, 8 May 2010, at 10:00 in Air Office with Commander Air. Those interested in helping out for IACE Singapore, please attend this meeting as well. However, please sign up with C/LTA Riley or your Batch OIC first, stating your available dates, so that we know when you are available for us to call you down. The itinery and programme briefing will be done during the meeting. We welcome all Cadet Officers, it does not matter whether you are coming for just 2 days or 16 days, as we need all the help we can get. Do bear in mind that assisting in the IACE (Inbound) programme will boost your chances in your application for the IACE (Outbound) programme. I assure you that it will be an enriching experience for all of you, through the exchanges with these foreign cadets, and you WILL take home many memorable friendships with you.

I look forward to your reply.

For IACE Core Team signups, please email me at lesterlee_rulez@hotmail.com.
Thank you for your attention.

Warmest Regards,
